Expenses: Cinema Man – Director of Photography, Sound Recordist, Gaffer, Producer, Focus Puller
Plot: Paul Braddock moves to a new city after graduating from Business School. Along the way he makes friends, gets a boring job, and falls in love with a prostitute. The Graduate meets Taxi Driver and American Psycho in this new feature film. This shoot is being done as a proof of concept for a funding process. While this proof of concept is just a day of filming, in the event that funding does happen, we will be hiring you to stay on board with us full time.
Production Company: Blue Alien Entertainment
Form: Feature (excerpt)
Director of Photography
You don’t have to have tons of experience to work with us, if you’re just starting out, that’s great! We want people looking to work on projects and further their skills. You’d be required to focus on the camera, setting it up, lighting the scene (with help of course) picking the correct lens for each shot… Typical stuff.
We just want someone who understands sound properly and can help us achieve the best sound for our movie.
You’d be required to focus on lighting the frame. MOst of the scene is outdoors, so we’d be using simple LED lights, as well as a reflector. You’d be required to keep the lighting neutral ready for colouring.
We’re looking for someone local to Sheffield, or at least South Yorkshire who is prepared to travel. I want someone who can really attach themselves to the project and help bring it to life. Pre-production has already begun, and right now we’re just bringing one scene to life for a proof of concept, but we need someone to work on brining a full 90 minute movie to life. Which means hiring people to work on the movie, negotiating for locations (alongside myself), and help put this movie in cinemas, mostly small indie cinemas to start with.
We’re looking for someone to act as an assistant to the Director of Photography, who in this case is also the camera operator. We’re hoping we can find someone to keep a keen eye on the focus during moving scenes, and who can set up every shot to be perfectly crisp and in focus.
What you’ll get from these expenses only roles:
We have no money for this project right now. We’re currently starting a kickstarter campaign, which this short scene will be used for. We’re aiming to raise over £5000 for the shoot, in order to pay a small crew of people. In the event funding is successful we will hire you on full time, at a rate of £100 per day.
