The decadence of The Great Gatsby will be right at home in the glorious arches of Abbeydale Picture House’s 1920s architecture. Based in the same era as the cinema, The Great Gatsby follows would-be writer Nick Carraway as he becomes embroiled in the luxurious life of the notorious Jay Gatsby and his subsequent love affair with Daisy Buchanan. Baz Luhrmann’s extravagant costume and set design meanwhile make for the perfect backdrop for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s bleak and beautiful narrative.
This pop-up screening will be accompanied by a drinks reception, a swing band of local Sheffield performers, dance performances, a glitzy photo booth and tasty cinema treats – all to raise money for Cavendish Cancer Care.
