Industry Talk #1: Alice Banister
Alice Banister has been working in the music Industry for the past 6 years, starting with her management company 'Hope Valley Creative', whilst performing gigs in venues across the Uk. She now works as a Creative Lead at Sheffield based music distribution company Kycker, whilst continuing to manage artists with Hope Valley. Alice has gained experience and understanding across many areas of the music industry, including artist development, music marketing, distribution, promotion and live.
In a panel discussion setting with 2W2MI Coordinator Rob Speranza, Alice will discuss what Kycker do and how they can help you and your career, how to make the most of and monetise your music and your music videos, use the music video as a distinct marketing tool and resource and much more! www.kycker.net

Industry Talk #2: Kieran Evans
Kieran Evans has directed music videos, shorts and live visuals for acclaimed artists such as Manic Street Preachers, John Grant, Mark Ronson, Kylie Minogue, Faithless, Spiritualized, Duran Duran, Hot Chip, Hannah Peel, Karl Hyde, Underworld, Paul Oakenfold, The Grid, Tiesto, Django Django and Edwyn Collins amongst many others. In 2013 he won the Best Music Video at the Q Awards for the promo he directed for the Manic Street Preachers track “Show Me The Wonder” which starred actor Craig Roberts of “Submarine” fame.
This talk will be 'in conversation' with Rob Speranza, where he will discuss his career with Kieran and 'how he did it'! Q+A with audience to follow.

Making the Most of your Two Weeks – Rules, Relationships and Resources

We will continue the evening with a discussion led by Rob Speranza, discussing how to make the most of your 2weeks, discounts and resources available to you, the rules, and your relationship with your filmmaking / musician partner. This is also the chance for you to ask questions you might have about the whole process. Attending this is a MUST for all 2W2Mi participants – it will help you immensely!

2W2Mi Presents: Live Music from Teah Lewis!
Just a little taster of one of the artists who will be taking part in 2Weeks2Make It this year - talented singer/songwriter Teah Lewis will be playing a couple of her tracks for us. And who knows: maybe you'll be paired up with her!
A bit about Teah:
My name is Teah Lewis I am a Sheffield-based singer-songwriter whose sound ‘channels the soulful folk of Vashti Bunyan and Joni Mitchell’. Since 2017, I've been performing my original music and growing my profile as an independent artist. I describe my sound as folk-infused pop and in 2020 I began to release my first studio recordings. In April 2024 I released my second studio EP called ‘Underweather. My support credits included Richard Hawley, The Deep Blue, Chloe Foy, Twen and John Cragie. Looking forward to meeting you all!

This is the moment - it's when we randomly connect everybody together and you find out who you are going to be working with for the next two weeks! There will be two hats: a Filmmakers Hat and a Musicians Hat - and when we draw your name out of it, you'll meet the person you'll make the video with! This is the exciting bit!

This is when you will be able to talk to your new-found collaborator, chat to others and finish off the food and drink we've got left!
Then, since we are going to wrap it all up by 6:30/7pm, you can adjourn to the nearest pub and continue chatting away and making plans with your new 2W2Mi partner!

LIGHT REFRESHMENTS will be available throughout the day: coffee, tea, water, biscuits.
To attend this event, you must be a full paying SYFN member with membership card, be part of a musical act that has paid the £75 fee to compete, or part of a student team that has come through the Connected Campus Initiative via Screen Yorkshire. Anyone who attempts to attend this event and is not one of the above will be asked to leave.
